240 pages of solid history, 1050 pages of short biographies. Eight volumes, bound in sixteen at The Riverside Press, in Cambridge.  4to. Some (cosmetic) hinge exposure but bindings are rock solid. Illustrations, portraits, charts, photogaphs, maps. Original gilt-blocked  dark-green buckram. Tight, and bright, with just a few minor instances of rubbing and shelf-creasing at spine caps. A near fine set, hardly ever used.
