Biography of Martinique native Moreaude Saint-Mery, a cultured and accomplished scientist and politician who became a strong advocate for slavery and went on to detail the entire (8-phase) spectrum of racial mixing. SIGNED by author (as Tony Elicona) and inscribed to a friend. At a certain point, Saint-Mery was exiled to the United States and owned a bookshop in Philadelphia, which became a gathering place for other French exiles.
