New York: Scribner, Armstrong and Company, 1873. First Edition. Hardcover. Illustrated with nineteen engravings. Pebbled cloth of brick-red with bright gilt and black design to front board depicting a steaming pot cooking over an open campfire, framed by an arch of trees in which weapons are hanging. A bit of rubbing to extremities, with corners slightly nudged and worn, and a wee bit of fraying to spine caps. Printed by H.O. Houghton and Company and bound at the Riverside Press (small identifying sticker to this effect on rear pastedown). Black endpapers. No markings. The colored foldout map ("...showing the location of the YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK and its Prospective Railroad Connection with the EASTERN STATES" preceding Chapter 1, shows only a 1" closed tear near bottom of where it attaches to book. Opened once for inspection. A few external blemishes aside, a very bright and tight copy. Very Good Plus. Item #73945
