With 42 illustrations by John Tenniel including full page frontis. 174 pages of text, followed by "An Easter Greeting to Every Child Who Loves "Alice.", the poem "Christmas Greetings [From a Fairy to a Child]", three pages of publisher ads for works of Lewis Carroll, and ending with the Specimen Page which is a facsimile of a page from the original handwritten manuscript of "Alice's Adventures Under Ground". Green cloth with Tenniel illustration of Alice in black and red with flying playing cards in black and red. Octavo. Titles in black, two ruled borders in red. Corners chafed, spine has fading and discoloration, some light soiling to cover and few small stains to rear. Interior: front hinge has webbing exposed, front endpaper lacking. Binding is shaken but sound with no loose pages. Some spotting to text, but overall bright. Note on illustrations: 17 of the illustrations [first 60 pages] have been nicely and neatly hand colored by an unknown hand. Good Only. Item #75921
