Von Kotzebue [1761-1819] was a writer and dramatist [he wrote over twenty plays] who also served as a consul in Russia and Germany.
He was the father of Otto von Kotzebue (1787–1846), the explorer famous for his voyages in the North Pacific and the South Seas.
