Mayo was a actress, playwright and screenwriter and with her husband helped co-found Goldwyn Pictures and her play Polly of the Circus became the first film produced by the Goldwyn Company in 1917. This is her account of entertaining the troops in World War 1. Despite enormous success early on , she became interested in spiritualism and distanced herself from the entertainment industry.
