This stated fourth American Edition by the English Romantic poet Miss Anna Seward, celebrates the courage of the British spy leader, Major John André, best known for his entanglement with the infamous turncoat Benedict Arnold. He was hanged for his crimes as a British spy during the American Revolution. Seward was a childhood friend of Honora Sneyd, who had been briefly engaged to André.
