Taken from Kesey's notebooks from his six month prison term in a low security "honor farm" in the Redwood forest. "Upon returning to Oregon, Kesey cut up and turned the raw notebooks into an illustrated collage of handwritten text that stretched across dozens of 18 x 23 inch boards. When publication of the book proved problematic, Kesey put it aside. Almost thirty years later he returned to the project" [liner notes].
