Second prizewinner Hazel Hall (1886-1924), Minnesota-born but was raised in Portland Oregon went on to write a number of poems, and win poetry prizes. Pearl Anderson, of Poetry Magazine, had this to say about her collection: "Comes Hazel Hall with her little book. every word and emotion of which is poignantly authentic."
