First published in French as "Autour du Pole Sud: Expedition du 'Pourquoi-Pas?'" by Flammarion, 1910. First printed in English as "The Voyage of the 'Why Not?' in the Antarctic" by Hodder and Stoughton, 1911. Reprinted in 1978 by offset lithography in UK and USA.

The "Pourquoi-Pas?", a ship built by Jean-Baptiste Charcot (1867-1936), was the "most modern and comfortable Polar vessel of its time. Charcot sailed it from Cherbourg on his second expedition in August 1908 and, before returning to Le Havre in June 1910, he had explored 3000 kilometres of unknown coastline in the Antarctic...
